Reaching Out - Our Strategy

We need to tell others about Jesus. But often, this creates sweaty palms, nervous voices, and lots of stress. We believe that it is the church’s job and privilege to make it easy for people to reach their friends, family, and coworkers with the Good News of Jesus Christ. How do we do this?

Fun and Friendly Small Groups

We want a lot of entry points for people to join our community. A Small Group ministry is one of them. Why Small Groups? Because sociologically speaking, we as people, need a group of friends we know on a first name basis and are comfortable with. We need a group we can trust, share our lives with, and grow together, whether it is just having fun and relaxing, or when we're encountering difficult times in our lives. Spiritually, we grow best in the context of small groups: we pray together, read the Bible together, and learn about Jesus together.

But who says Small Groups have to be boring? Who says they have to be grouped by geography, age, or arbitrarily assigned? We believe small groups should be interest-based and therefore, fun!

  • Monday Night Football Small Group
  • Scrapbooking Small Group
  • Moms of Preschoolers Small Group
  • The list is endless.

We also know that people today do not like long term, indefinite commitments. That’s why all of our small groups have a term of duration, after which you have the freedom to try another small group or continue with some of the people you’ve already gotten to know.

Lastly, our small groups are NOT hard to lead.  In fact, if you can open a bag of chips, put out some drinks, and play a Youtube video, you’ve pretty much got what it takes to start a small group in our church.  The reason it’s so easy is because we’ve done the hard work for you.  Each leader will receive links to Youtube videos every month, with one of our pastors or teachers teaching through the Bible. All you have to do is watch it with your group and facilitate a discussion. We even provide the discussion questions for you.

Visitor-Friendly Worship Services

  1. Excellence, not Perfectionism. It’s hard to invite someone to church if you are ashamed of it. This goes for how the building looks and smells, to the sermon and quality of music or production. Of course, we want to be real, and that means sometimes being transparent enough to show your flaws and to show that you are human. But his doesn’t mean that we don’t give God our best. If you go into any business, that business is concerned about its reputation. How much more should we be concerned in the church that we give God excellence in everything we do? You will be assured that if you invite your friends to our church, we will commit to a service of excellence.
  2. Relevant Preaching. We will do our best to bring you messages that are completely faithful to God’s Word, yet completely understandable by your average Joe. We know that most people today do not come from a churched background. Therefore, we won't use religious words that might alienate or even scare people away. We will try our best to talk about issues that are useful and practical to both Christians and non-Christians alike. When we do things that come from a rich Christian tradition, we will always explain them, as if it was everyone’s first time at church. We will also never make an unbecoming appeal for money from first time visitors. Of course, as people grow in their faith, we will cover deeper issues, but we will always do so outside of our visitor-friendly worship services.

Bridge Events to reach our community

Sometimes to reach a place that is especially hard to get to, you need a bridge. We believe in making it easy for people to invite their friends to church by having large scale Bridge Events. These Bridge Events are big on fun and are designed to reach out to the greater community around us. For example a Food Truck Rally with live music or an Ethnic Culture and Food Fair. We will have festivals, exhibitions, and performances to invite the public and our friends to attend. As we grow, we will enlist the help of our local Christian celebrities  or experts, to share about their relationship with Jesus. Basically, the Bridge Event is a fun, interesting, and unintimidating party that we can all invite our friends who do not yet know Jesus. Of course, any testimony or message would be very brief, friendly, and culturally sensitive.
